It's Been a While...

So it has almost been a month since I last posted.  My niece was born on Feb. 2nd and is doing great. The kids and I will be getting on a train in Raton, NM this weekend to go to CA and visit and I will finally get to hold my little Charlie Grace. I can't wait.  Lexi will be spending a few days with her Nana and Papa (Bill's parents) and Nathan and I will be staying at my mom's house.  On Sunday, Aunt Cindy is coming over to my mom's to visit the kids and I and then she will take Lexi to Nana's house from there.  On Monday, Nathan, Charlie, Shannon and I are probably going out to lunch and then some retail therapy, a girls day out (except Nathan).  Tuesday we will hang out at the house with Great Grandma, Tony, Shannon and Charlie and Lexi will come back from Nana's.  Then on Wednesday, I am borrowing Tony's truck and going to the OC to drop off my pump, pick some things up from our Realtor (no the house hasn't closed yet; more to come later in this post), and visit my bestie and Lexi's bestie.  On Thursday, Grandma is taking me and the kids to Legoland!!!  I think I will be more excited than Lexi.  LOL  Friday is a day of rest at home with my family and then in the afternoon, Nana will come pick us all up and take us back to her house and we will spend Friday night and Saturday with them until they take us back to the train on Saturday evening.  It is a busy week but I can't wait!!!

So as I mentioned, our house is still our house, in Lake Forest.  Our buyers are being patient for now but I am just waiting for the call from our Realtor that they have backed out.  B of A wants more money... Even though they were willing to take $535,000 from our 1st buyers (who backed out) and this buyer came in with that offer, they now want something like $615k.  They are stalling and our Realtor is fighting the price as we were unable to even get a showing when we had the house listed from $599k-$620k (NOT 1 showing).  We are in the HAFA program through the government and we are told that B of A hates this program and I believe they are waiting for it to expire on us and then they will try and foreclose.  Why they would rather foreclose then take our willing buyer, I have no idea!  It is very frustrating and disheartening to Bill and I.  I feel for Bill as he is the one that stresses the most about finances (being his field of work and all).  Please pray that they come through for us!

The kids are doing great.  Nathan and I started attending a storytime at the library here in Firestone on Thursdays.  He loves to watch all the little ones. Most of the kids are about a yr old but he still loves it!  Lexi loves school and even attended her first classmate birthday party last weekend at the Little Gym in Boulder. I love that place and look forward to them opening one closer (due to open in Longmont soon).  I want to take Nathan as I took Lexi at this age and it was so good for her!

Since my last post, we have had more visitors.  Bill's parents came out the first weekend in February.  It was great to have them.  They took Lexi shopping and the Butterfly Pavilion on Saturday while Bill and I organized the basement and set up the play area.  It is not quite finished but it is almost ready for the dogs to sleep down there and Lexi is alreay playing down there.  It is cool to have that extra space set up finally!  Then on Sunday we all went to the Flat Irons Mall and Lexi played in their amazing play area before we drove them back to the airport to say good bye.  It was great to have them over but it was a fast visit.

That is about it for us. The weather has been great!  It hasn't snowed in a few weeks and was even in the high 60's/ low 70's last weekend so all the snow melted.  Weather this week has been in the low 40's and a cold breeze but it is tolerable.  I am looking forward to some warmer weather in Cali!  Thanks for stopping by!

We will survive

So as most of you know, I got really sick this week.  I had a little bit of a cold for the past week but it was nothing major.  Then all of a sudden on Wed. night I felt my head fill up and my throat getting more and more sore.  I ended up with a fever topping out at 102.9 at one point during the night. I took Afrin and Advil hoping for some relief. None came. I was up almost all night.  Went to the Urgent Care on Thursday and was told that I had a bad sinus infection and most likely Strep. They gave me some good antibiotics and some liquid steroids.  I broke my fever that afternoon and felt better by Friday. Today is Sat. and I am almost human again.  I have officially survived my first illness here in CO.  When I do it, I do it right!  LOL

Anywho, with the illness, not much has gotten done. We are anxious for Bill's parents to arrive this Friday, but the house is no where near where I wanted it to be before their arrival.  I need to focus on cleaning bathrooms and such this week and never mind the boxes for a while longer.  You would think that since I stay at home and Lexi goes to school that I would have plenty of time on my hands to get it all done, but NOPE.  My day FLIES by with the baby.  He isn't such a good napper these days and will only play by himself for short periods of time (not like Lexi who would lay on her blanket for hours at this age and bat at the hanging activities above her).  I am lucky to get a 30 min stretch where I don't have to entertain Nathan. I guess that is a big difference with boys.

I am also very antsy to hear from my mom or brother that my niece is about to make her arrival.  She was due 2 weeks ago and if she doesn't come tomorrow, she is to go to the hospital on Monday morning.  So either way, no more than a few days left!  YAY.  I went to Target tonight and got the cutest t-shirt that says "I love my aunt".  I couldn't resist!!!  I am putting it the mail Monday so she will have it when she comes home from the hospital.  I can't wait to make a trip back to meet her!

That's about it for us.  All is well.  Lexi loves her school and one of her teachers has taken to her well, Miss Danielle. She has a few new friends, Kendall and Eric. She says Eric loves her.  Bill told her that everybody loves Lexi.  LOL  Nathan loves the quiet during the day. He actually gets a little fussy when Bill and Lexi get home.  I guess hearing his sisters chatter and having her in his face all the time is wearing on him.  I have to laugh when he gives me that look. I just tell him, "she is your sissy, sorry."

Bill is good. He stayed home on Thursday to help me out since I was so bad off.  He had already taken a vacation day on Friday so that worked out in my benefit.  He will go back to the office on Monday. Tomorrow he is going to check out our local community center to see if he wants to work out there or still get his Eliptical for the basement.  I am told their facility is great and they even have raquetball which he loves.  If he meets some people, then he will be set.

I hope this finds you all well.  That is our week. I will be in touch soon.  Hugs to all. We miss you already!

Another work week down

So we are through another work week.  When Bill gets home tonight we will have dinner and tomorrow Lexi and I will bake his birthday cake.  We are spending Sunday afternoon with his friend Jim and his family, eating lunch at Texas Roadhouse (yumm) for Bill's birthday.  Bill also called and said he has some days he has to take or he will lose them so he is taking next Friday off work. I hope the kids are healthy so that we can go do something fun for an afternoon (take Lexi out of school early).

So this week, we got a TV stand so that I could unpack the living room.  The TV was sitting on a tote before.  It looks nice.  I have one more box to take upstairs and then the living room will be cleaned and organized.  I am still struggling to find places for everything.  I thought this house was good sized but the storage here is horrible!  Our pantry is 1/2 the size, our cupboard space is 1/2 and our linen space is 1/2.  The bedroom closets are bigger which is good because the rooms are smaller so it gives me places to put the kids toys.

I kept Lexi home today.  She was really tired and cranky last night so I asked her if she wanted to spend the day at home or if she wanted to go to school.  She wanted to stay home.  I think that she feels left out since she started school.  I think she thinks that Nathan is getting all my attention all day while she is gone (even though that is far from the truth; I am spending most of my day unpacking).  But she is home and she has already played Wii, helped me put the movies/DVD's away and watched a little TV.  We will all be taking a nap here shortly and then when we wake up, her and I will play a few board games (while she did all her stuff, I unpacked another 4 boxes and put movies away).

It is still slow going but the house is coming along.  I don't see a light through the boxes in some of the rooms, but I will!  I promise!!!

Lexi loves her new school

So I picked up Lexi on Monday from school and she says, "Mom, I had SO MUCH fun today!"  I love it!  I got a note from her teacher saying that she had a good day and even made a friend already.  I picked her up again yesterday and she was on the computer and loving it.  Today she came home and said she had a new walking buddy and his name is Eric.  She asked if he could sleep over.  LOL  I told her she was too young for sleep overs and asked if she knew what you are suppose to do at a sleep over.  She said, "play with toys and then sleep with your friend."  I guess she is right.  LOL  She said Eric loves her and Bill said everyone loves her.  LOL  She cracks me up!  She says she doesn't like school because she doesn't like their food.  So far she has had 3 lunches there and only ate one of them, pizza.  She is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO picky!!!!!!  I tried to warn them and they told me she would eat if she saw others eating.  They don't know my child, she doesn't give into peer pressure.

Nathan and I have had a quiet week so far.  It is nice but I have been feeling tired and lazy so I haven't gotten as much done as I had hoped this week.  My goal was to get the office done by Friday and there are only 2 days left and still a lot of boxes.  No room for most of it so I am leaving some stuff aside for Bill to decide what he needs and we will store the rest.  That is how it was in the kitchen too.  Just no room!

Thanks for checking in on us.  We will have more to share soon.  Hugs to our friends and family!  We miss you!

Made it through 1 week

So today is the first official week mark.  My mom was here all weekend and we got the kitchen and the kids bath unpacked on Saturday.  Then we woke up and did the linens, laundry room, Lexi's room and Nathan's room.  I still have to hang a few pix in Lexi's room today and put up some decals in Nathan's room.  Then those will be totally complete!

I am getting frustrated because I am finding so many things that are broken or not working.  I am making a list for the landlord and hate to bombard him but also am a little ticked this stuff wasn't fixed before we moved in!  I know for sure the landlord knew about the drainage problem because I found drano in the laundry room. The dryer takes hours to dry a load (no we aren't over stuffing it), the washer "glugs" when draining, the kids bathtub doesn't drain, Lexi's closet door won't stay on the track, and the garbage disposal isn't working.  That is what I have found so far.

Lexi started Pre-K today.  She wasn't happy about going but I think once she gets there, she will love being around kids again and getting to play all day!  I can't wait until she gets home to hear about her day!  I am picking her up at 4:30 so I  can find out how it went.

Unpacking our room and starting on the office today.  Will post pix of the kids rooms later.

We have internet!

We finally have internet, cable and phone service.  It is so weird going 5 days without it and I don't want to do it again!  LOL

Unpacking some more today.  I also got Lexi registered for Preschool and she starts on Monday.  YAY, I need the break!

I have been busy getting our guest room set up for my mom who is coming tomorrow for just 2 days.  I tried to set up the old TV (big, bulky and heavy) and I dropped the stupid thing!  We are going tomorrow to get a new TV for our living room and may have to get a little TV for the guest room too.  Not good luck for TV's today because the little one we have been using this week that has a built in DVD player died today too.  Well, just the DVD player died.  I goes for a few minutes and freezes. I can't get past that part of the movie.  I know it is the player because it was acting up last night with a different movie too.  Good thing we don't need that one for anything. May just plug that one into the guest room and not use the DVD part for a little while.

I will upload some photos now.  Enjoy!

We are here and so is our stuff

So this is a long update since we have no internet. I am at Panera using the internet so I can send this update.

First I want to thank everyone again for the wonderful and warm Birthday wishes!  It was a busy day of unpacking but we did go out to Red Robin for my free birthday burger.  LOL :) I got a few nice cards in the mail and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my mom.  Thanks everyone again!

We arrived at our house on Monday, Jan 10th.  It was covered in snow and the highs that day were in the low 20's.  We got everything unloaded and set out for Super Walmart to get some things that we needed.  We spent almost $500 and then talked to the tire dept and decided to get better tires.  Good thing because my tread was really low and that is why our drive the day before was so dreadful.  The tires cost us another $500 so it was an expensive day.  LOL  While we were at Walmart, we got a call that our mover would here at 8am on Tuesday. What a great birthday present to be able to sleep in my own bed and not on an air mattress.  That night we also went to America's Furniture Warehouse and got a new dinnette table, 3 dressers and a guest room bed.  We are ready for our first visitor!

Tuesday morning arrived and so started the chaos.  All of our stuff was unloaded and the house is in a shambles!  The dogs are doing well in their crate since it is snowing and they are wimpy California dogs.  Actually, Maya is doing remarkably well and will go out in the snow, do her business and even explore until her paws get cold.  Jake on the other hand is a wimp!  He will only go in the snow when he can hold it no longer.  He has only gone potty and poop once a day so far.  Good thing the weather is warming up and the snow should melt pretty quick.  He will be thrilled!

Our new furniture was delivered yesterday.  It looks great and I can't wait to have a computer in the house so I can upload photos of our house and the kids.  I have unpacked the master bathroom, set up the kids beds, unpacked about 10 boxes in the kitchen and done some shopping for lamps (this house has  no lights in any of the rooms (weird).  It has been a  busy week.

I got a call today that my mom is going to come help me unpack this weekend.  My brother's baby is due on the 16th so I was surprised that she wanted to come help me work instead of wait around for her 3rd grandbaby.  But I will take the help; it is needed!  We also have Bill's parents coming in a few weeks so by the middle of Feb. we should be pretty well settled.  Highs today are in the low 40's and the lows are up to about 15 degrees.  Much warmer than we have had.  Colorado 40's are MUCH warmer than CA 40's (as long as it isn't windy).

We will have cable, internet and phone on Sat. so I will update again then and post pix. Thanks for stopping by!
